Aerosmith to replace Tyler

It appears the members of Aerosmith have had enough and they are now looking to replace Steven Tyler with “somebody who the fans might recognize.”

Strawberry Field was the name of a Salvation Army Children's Home just around the corner from Lennon's boyhood home in the Woolton suburb of Liverpool. Lennon and his childhood friends Pete Shotton and Ivan Vaughan used to play in the trees behind the home. One of Lennon's childhood treats was the garden party held each summer on the grounds of Strawberry Field. Lennon's Aunt Mimi recalled: "As soon as we could hear the Salvation Army band starting, John would jump up and down shouting, 'Mimi, come on. We're going to be late.'" Read more

Soundgarden Reunion Planned for 2010 - ABC News

NEW YORK (Billboard) - Soundgarden will reunite for concerts in 2010, according to a Twitter message from frontman Chris Cornell which directs fans to a new Web site, Soundgardenworld.com.
The Seattle rock quartet -- Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron -- has not played live since splitting up in the spring of 1997.
Sources tell Billboard the group is weighing offers from several major U.S. and international festivals, but a tour routing is still a work in progress, due to Cameron's prior commitments to play with Pearl Jam in the spring and summer.
Cameron has been Pearl Jam's permanent drummer since 1998; that group recently announced its first North American date of 2010 as part of the second weekend of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (April 29-May 2), and will also play 10 European shows from June 22 in Dublin through July 10 in Oeiras, Portugal.

It's a little-known factoid that Grand Funk Railroad are the one's that smashed the Beatles' ticket sales record for Shea Stadium, one that still stands. Here's a clip of I'm Your Captain from that legendary concert.
Here's what Wikipedia has to say about the song (and it's many, many names): Ten minutes in duration, it is the band's longest studio recording. One of the group's best-known songs, it is composed as two distinct but closely related movements. Accordingly, its title has been rendered in various ways across many different Grand Funk albums, including I'm Your Captain, I'm Your Captain/Closer to Home, Closer to Home/I'm Your Captain, Closer to Home (I'm Your Captain), and Closer to Home.

It's rare for an instrumental piece to make the Firecracker 500, but this little number by The Allman Brothers Band is one of the exceptions ...

Jessica was first released on the Allman Brothers' 1973 album Brothers and Sisters. For those of us who have ever shared an office with true motorheads (the WNEW archivist currently does so), we also recognize it as the opening theme to the British auto enthusiast television series, Top Gear, though in that case, it is an updated cover version that is played.

Dickey Betts, guitarist of the band, wrote the song as a tribute to Django Reinhardt, the famous jazz guitarist who could only use two fingers while playing as the result of a childhood industry. Appropriately, the guitar part to Jessica can be played using only two fingers. The song itself was named for Betts' daughter, and it comes in at a Top 100 #57 on the 1991 Firecracker 500, falling to #237 for the 1996 list.t.

Having just played London's O2 Arena last night, Sir Paul McCartney is hinting that he'd like to do a run of shows in the country's capital, much like the Christmas shows the Beatles once did.

McCartney told NME magazine that the idea of a "Union Jack" tour through England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland had occurred to him but his manager couldn't pull it together quickly enough.

Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has entered a rehabilitation facility to treat an addiction to painkillers his doctor says he has taken to deal with a decade of injuries. In a statement issued Tuesday, the singer said he hopes to quickly rejoin the band, an effort to quell recent reports that the group’s other members were considering hiring a replacement should he decide to take an extended break from his duties fronting the long-running hard-rock outfit.
